BISHKEK, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- The 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War serves as a reminder to all mankind of the value of peace and human lives, said Sheradil Baktygulov, director of the Institute of World Politics of Kyrgyzstan.

Baktygulov emphasized the significance of the commemorative events held in Beijing on Sept. 3 to mark the historic victory, noting that it came at a time when the world is again facing growing tensions, mistrust and conflicts in many corners of the planet.

Unilateral sanctions, tariff threats and confrontation between some countries have once again surfaced, while the "healthy forces of human civilization" are uniting to prevent a repeat of the tragedies of a world war, Baktygulov told Xinhua.

"The Chinese people know what war is and highly value peace and peaceful development," the expert said.

Baktygulov also recognized the significant role of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in ensuring the complete victory of the Chinese people against Japanese aggression.

Facing a full-scale invasion by militarist Japan, the CPC advocated establishing a national united front against Japanese aggression, the expert said, adding that the wise initiative rallied the entire Chinese people to fight against foreign invaders with one accord.

"Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression is an important part of the World Anti-Fascist War," Baktygulov said, stressing that the Chinese people made a colossal sacrifice -- 35 million military and civilian casualties -- to save humanity from destruction by the fascists and militarists.

Regarding the grand military parade on Sept. 3, Baktygulov noted that it served as a reminder that "the military is needed to protect the peaceful development of the country."

The expert stressed that China never threatens other countries with unilateral sanctions or armed invasion, but strives for the peaceful resolution of all disputes and consistently defends the principles of peaceful coexistence among countries.
