BANGKOK, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand's caretaker prime minister, officially announced on Wednesday that he will run as the prime ministerial candidate of the Bhumjaithai Party in the upcoming election for the House of Representatives of the new parliament.

Addressing a campaign policy launch event held by the Bhumjaithai Party in Bangkok on the same day, Anutin stated that he has always listened attentively to the voices of the people. Should the public re-elect the Bhumjaithai Party, he will continue to serve as prime minister and commit himself to building a stable, prosperous and sustainable future for all Thais.

Speaking to the media after the event, Siripong Angkasakulkiat, deputy leader of the party, noted that Anutin is the party's sole prime ministerial candidate at present, with no other nominees in reserve.

Thailand's election commission announced on Dec. 15 that the election for the House of Representatives of the new parliament will take place on Feb. 8, 2026. All political parties are required to submit their lists of prime ministerial candidates between Dec. 28 and 31. ■
